UNHCR I Emergency Ukraine
Already more than 1,000 days since the full-scale war in Ukraine began, a harsh milestone for thousands of displaced and war-affected families who continue to face unimaginable challenges.
A third of the country’s population has been forced to flee their homes. More than 6.5 million refugees have fled Ukraine, and over 3.5 million people have been displaced within the country’s borders. 14 million people in total are uprooted, mostly women and children.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, we have stood alongside families from Ukraine, providing vital support. But the needs are immense, especially during the brutal winter months. Your support can help deliver vital aid such as shelter, cash assistance and essential supplies to help vulnerable families survive the winter.
UNHCR and partners are on the ground rushing emergency support to the affected people. Continued attacks in the country mean that people are losing their homes and even their loved ones every day. We will stay and continue working in Ukraine and neighbouring countries as long as necessary to help those in need.
But we cannot do it without you.
With no end to the war in sight, we rely on your generosity to continue providing essential, life-saving relief to people who have lost everything.
How would you like to donate?
By making a regular donation to Switzerland for UNHCR, you will provide refugees with ongoing relief and protection and help them regain hope for a better future.
We have stockpiles of aid inside Ukraine and neighbouring countries. We urgently need cash donations to help fulfill these supplies and to provide cash assistance directly to refugees from Ukraine and those who are displaced within the country so they can purchase the essentials they need. Your gift will make a huge difference in their life. Our teams are on the ground right providing forcibly displaced people with life-saving aid.
Urgent needs include shelter, relief items such as blankets, sleeping mats, jerry cans to carry clean water. UNHCR also offers protection services, especially for those most vulnerable, such as unaccompanied children, women and older people, who are the vast majority of those who have fled their homes.
If you have questions for us, or if you experience difficulties while processing your donation on this site, please email us at [email protected] or call +41 22 552 78 08
If you are resident in Switzerland, your donation is tax deductible. Direct federal tax: 20% of net income, provided that the amount of the donation is at least 100 francs. Municipal taxes: depending on the canton, up to 20% of net income for individuals and 20% for companies. For further information, please contact the tax authorities in your canton.
However, in the very rare case that this emergency response becomes fully funded, your support will be used to provide vital assistance to people forced to flee around the world.
We will happily explore with you the ways in which you can maximize your impact on the fate of people forced to flee in the way that fits you best. Please email us at [email protected] or call +41 22 552 78 08.
