UNHCR | Emergency Rohingya Refugees
Bringing safety and hope for Rohingya who have lost everything.
Desperate Rohingya refugee children and families seeking shelter in Indonesia are victims of persecution and conflict and are survivors of deadly sea journeys.
In 2023, 569 Rohingya were reported to have perished or gone missing in South-East Asian waters, with nearly 4,500 embarking on these perilous journeys in the search for safety – a grim increase on previous years. Nearly 70% of those attempting these deadly journeys are vulnerable children and women.
If they do not receive the immediate humanitarian assistance and protection that they need, more lives will be lost.
They are in desperate need of your help.
UNHCR is on the ground working alongside local authorities and partners to provide urgent protection and assistance to those who survive at sea and manage to reach land.
Allocating safe shelter, working with local communities to mitigate risks of violence and discrimination, and ensuring the provision of meals, clean drinking water and hygiene kits is critical.
With your donation, an even bigger tragedy for the Rohingya is preventable.
Together, we can save lives. Please, donate now.
