Syria Emergency
After 12 years of conflict, life for displaced Syrians is more difficult than ever.
More than 14 million Syrians had already been uprooted from their homes before the deadly and devastating earthquakes, most of them living in very fragile housing, with little or no financial resources.
More than 5.5 million Syrians are still refugees in the five neighbouring countries and are slipping further into poverty. For people inside Syria, their suffering started long before the earthquakes struck. But the earthquakes have brought on more misery and pain and catapulted some of the most in need communities in the country into utter desperation.
Today, most Syrian refugees live in poverty. Many are unable to feed their children, access health care or put a roof over their heads.
This is the largest refugee crisis in the world and as the crisis continues, hope is fading.
UNHCR has been providing life-saving assistance to displaced Syrians since the beginning of the crisis. We support more than 5.5 million Syrian refugees in neighbouring countries, as well as 1.1 million displaced within Syria and living in dangerous areas.
But the needs continue to grow, especially after the earthquakes' massive destruction.
Syrian families need your help more than ever.
With a gift of 150 CHF today you can help a family afford essential items such as food, petrol, school fees or medicine.
